The passion in the room at Mariana Hall in Sunshine was up-lifting; all were given the opportunity to have their say and the opinions were real and clear, our community needs an outdoor, heated, deep water swimming pool, an adequate replacement of the recently demolished outdoor 50 metre pool ASAP!! A whole generation has missed out on the "outdoor experience".
After listening to speakers and then the community during an open forum, the Sunshine community voted and agreed to the resolution below at the Public Meeting on 24 August 2006: |
 |
 |
That the mothers' group be given accreditation to approach elected representatives at a Local, State and Federal level to ascertain what their position is and report back to a future meeting to be called at least one month prior to the upcoming state election. Options to be reported on the website to be presented for consideration. Moved - S.Scott, Seconded - J Pahlow, Carried - Unanimous. |
Unanimous agreement was reached that discussions will naturally include salt water chlorination, for the benefit of all swimmers and in particular the disabled and older people with skin conditions and asthma sufferers. Thanks to Peter Thomson for bringing this important information to our attention. |
A big thank you to all the speakers including Les Twentyman, Elvie Sievers and Adriano Di Prato.
Some of the artwork/messages that children in our community brought along to the meeting!
